Education Policy & Procedures

We at Lynchburg Music Center would like to thank you for the opportunity to offer guidance and encouragement as you take your musical journey with our professional instructors.  Below are our Music Education Department’s polices and procedures.

  1. Lessons will be invoiced on a monthly basis, and are to be paid for in advance. Invoices for lesson fees will be issued on the 15th of the month, and will be due by the first lesson of the following month.  Payments received after the first lesson will be subject to a $10.00 Late Payment Charge.  Lesson fees paid with check, cash or credit/debit cards may be paid directly to Lynchburg Music Center during normal store hours.  If lesson payments are to be made after normal store hours, please pay by check and place it in our secure payment boxes.

  2. It is the responsibility of the student, or if the student is under 18, the parent/guardian, to ensure that lessons are paid for in a timely fashion.  For convenience, and to avoid late payment charges, it is strongly recommended that lesson accounts are set up in our auto-pay system (payment made from debit/credit card kept on file).  Should fees become more than one (1) month in arrears, Lynchburg Music Center reserves the right to require enrolment in our auto-pay system or terminate the student’s privileges of music instruction without notice.

  3. Lessons will be billed at the rate of four (4) lessons per month.  Should a fifth(5th) lesson day fall in the month, this lesson may be used to make up time that an instructor missed, as a vacation week or students may choose to pay for a fifth (5th) lesson if the instructor is available, payment for which will be billed on the following month’s invoice.  If there are fewer than four (4) lesson in a starting month, a prorated lesson fee will be applied.

  4. In the case of inclement weather, lessons will be cancelled if the store is closed only.  We do not  follow any school closings.  If you are uncertain, please watch WSET Channel 13 for up to date store closing information, or call 434-237-0073 during normal business hours.  Please note that a make-up lesson or credit will be arranged in the event of a store closing only.

  5. Students are encouraged to be diligent in attendance.  Because it is not possible to offer make-up lessons to every student, make-up lessons will not be offered to any student.  Exceptions will be made at the discretion of the individual instructor only.  Lessons cancelled by the instructor will be made up or credited on the next billing cycle.

  6. Students must be respectful in manner at all times.  Please maintain a respectful tone when addressing instructors, peers, staff members, and clinicians.  In the interest of safety, students 12 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to and from the instructor or while anywhere on the premises of Lynchburg Music Center.

  7. Students are asked to be diligent in completing assignments.  Student progress is directly affected by the amount of time put in to playing the instrument.
