Laura York received her Bachelor of Music Education from Longwood University and has completed Graduate Studies in Special Education at Lynchburg College and Education at Hampton University. From 1993- 2001 Laura was a music educator for Amherst County Public Schools, providing general music education for grades 6 & 7 as well as serving as Director of the Middle School Choir Program.

Prior to her time at Amherst County Schools, Laura was the Music Instructor for the Central Virginia Training Center, providing musical opportunities for individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities. Laura continues work in this field here at LMC as well as providing Voice and Piano instruction, audition and performance preparation/coaching and serving as a music judge for local and regional school based competitions.
