Casey Wood

Casey Wood began working as a musician in Lynchburg at the age of 15 while under the tutelage of local legends Dean King (guitar), Lew Taylor (piano), and Russ Pawlas (drums). In 2008, Casey formed The Ruckus, a versatile act that has recorded two albums and toured extensively. The Ruckus was honored multiple years with awards from reader's poll in The News and Advance and The Burg. Casey regularly performs with The Jefferson Choral Society on guitar and The University of Lynchburg orchestra on percussion. He was a member of the world-renowned Marching Royal Dukes drumline at James Madison University while completing his Bachelor of Arts in English. 

 

As an educator, Casey has taught English and Public Speaking at E.C Glass High School since 2006. As a music educator, Casey has worked with the E.C Glass High School and Liberty High School marching bands as a percussion instructor and pep band director. In 2012, he established the Rock Band program at E.C Glass High School. In 2014, Casey was awarded the Cy Scholars award and in 2015, he was recognized , by The Burg, as a top ten educator in the Lynchburg area. Casey developed the curriculum for the Hip Hop elective at E.C Glass High School and has continued to work as an instructor for Lynchburg Music Center's School of Rock camp since 2015.
